Frank Cockney is interviewing Freeman Kimiksana about Inuvialuit nomadic seasonal lifestyle long ago, including discussions on schooners, the various storekeepers, about hunting, and the fun large gatherings of games and dancing. The recording suddenly switches to possibly a COPE meeting in English that was already in session from the 24:58 minute mark to the 30:17 mark then the recording returns to the Inuvialuktun interview. Frank continues to interview Freeman about Inuvialuit lifestyle long ago and they discuss the many lifestyle changes of the present day way of life of the present day Inuvialuit. Part 1 and part 2. Frank Kuptana is storytelling of his younger days, of when people were arriving to Aggie Bolt’s land to purchase supplies from the store, of the Sunday services and games, of when they were unloading the trading supply ship that arrived, of possibly shells, food and other staple payments like that, of the women purchasing sewing materials and staples, of when using a .22 gun later on, of the good dogs, of the Christmas gatherings, fun games, dancing, and gifts, of getting gum for their Christmas present, of when the only language spoken was Iniunnaqtun and people lived the traditional lifestyle but now people have learned English and only speak that language and also speaks of the lifestyle changes, of more stories of dogs, illnesses, shamanism, medicine men, of fishing, of when his mom got really sick and passed away, of how people lived and did things long ago, of the ships that could be heard from far away like Patsy’s ship called Nauyaq, of people getting schooners and starting to hunt with them, and much more.

Frank Cockney is storytelling of when they first went to Tuktoyaktuk, mentioning all the families that he recalls who had homes there and some of the families that moved on including the then Anglican minister Jim Edwards Sr., Frank says the houses were put there in 1976 and we are in the year 1977, and that people’s culture is getting different where people used to hunt to make a living and now that oil companies are here, they want money and are living that way now. Now we even forget our relatives and try to make a living that way. Frank also remembers when the Canmar boats first arrived to Tuktoytaktuk to begin oil exploration work and describes the work he and others were doing for the oil company. Part 33 and 34. Frank Cockney is storytelling of his trapping stories, of his travels with his family, of going to the store with his dogsled and purchasing dry goods, of caring for their dogs and dog teams, of his 10 to 12 year old son hunting small game, of traveling with his brother in laws and others to Banksland with the abundance of wildlife there, of going to Ulukhaktok for Easter and some of his brother in laws returning to the Delta for Easter, of traveling to Ikaahuk, of running into Fred Carpenter and a couple of policemen who like to have fun and they had a dance. Frank also provides updates on various meetings regarding training local people for employment and Co-ops and Inuit Tapirisat meetings.
