An account of the resource
Mary Kailek is continuing her life stories sharing more memories of when she was younger when her dad worked with the Hudson Bay Company, when her mom would be sewing, of the rat sunday services, of her travels with her parents, of various people, of the flu illness then of the kids, who lost family members, that were going to the school, of fishnet fishing, of berry picking, of the delicious traditional food, of the food preparation and food storage, of how they would eat and utilise all parts of the animals for food, of the few Inuvialuit, Gwich’in, and Caucasians who were living in Aklavik when they moved there around 1928, as well as the few houses that were there. She also speaks of the all the animals that were hunted when nothing was wasted unlike nowadays where there is unnecessary wastage, about transportation long ago versus today, of lifestyle and changes, of when her dad worked as a special constable, of their many travels, and much more.
